India at Asian Games 2023: Asian Games 2023 was historic for India. This time India got 107 medals. The previous best performance in this case was 16 gold medals, which came in the 2018 Asian Games only. That means there has been a direct increase of 12 medals in gold also. Not only was this Asian Games the best for India in terms of the number of medals, but the history that was created in many events also made this time’s Asian Games memorable for India. For example, in badminton men’s doubles event, Satwik and Chirag created history by winning the first gold for India in the history of Asian Games. Badminton player HS Prannoy also achieved a big achievement. He became the first Indian in the history of the Asian Games to win a medal in the badminton men’s singles event in the last 41 years.
Similarly, Deepika Pallikal and Harinder Pal Singh Sandhu created history by winning the gold medal in the mixed doubles event in squash. Mixed doubles competition was included for the first time in squash in the Asian Games. India became its first champion. Female athlete Vithya Ramraj touched the 39-year-old national record of Indian athlete PT Usha in the 400 meter hurdle race. He completed his race in 55.42 seconds.
